Production, cultivation, distribution
Calendula oil is an oily extract obtained from the flower heads of the garden marigold (Calendula officinalis L.), a member of the Asteraceae family, mixed with sunflower oil, to which antioxidant tocopherol is added.
Usage
The flower head of calendula, as well as its tongue-like disk flowers (also known as calendula petals), contain inflammatory-reducing flavonoids, wound-healing carotenoid and xanthophyll pigments, antimicrobial essential oils, and other beneficial compounds. Sunflower oil is valuable not only as a solvent (being able to dissolve carotenoids and essential oils), but also contains essential fatty acids (linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid) essential for skin care. Therefore, the oily extract is not only suitable for everyday skin care (especially for the care of dry, cracked skin), but can also be a component of products intended to reduce inflammatory processes in the skin and accelerate the healing of wounds.
