    Product Description

Chia seed or sage seed is becoming increasingly popular as an ingredient in Hungary as well, which is no wonder, as it has numerous beneficial effects and is widely used.

Chia originated in South America. The plant, which produces small, oval-shaped black or gray seeds, was cultivated on large scales even before the arrival of Columbus and was considered very valuable, similar to corn. It was also known as the food of messengers, as the runners carried a handful of chia seeds with them as provisions to ensure they could deliver important messages successfully.

    Importance, impacts:

Chia seeds are very rich in nutrients. They are an excellent source of protein, rich in omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. In addition, they contain many minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants, which further increase their value. Chia seeds are attributed with numerous positive health effects, such as contributing to a healthy nervous system, supporting the cardiovascular system, and promoting good digestion. Additionally, due to their low carbohydrate content and high fiber content, they can be consumed by diabetics.

It is not recommended to consume more than 15 g of chia seeds per day, as excessive consumption may cause digestive issues.

    Usage:

Chia seeds have a very strong water-absorbing capacity, being able to swell up to ten times their weight. This allows them to form a gel, which is suitable for replacing eggs in making pasta, cakes, and meatballs.

Chia seed pudding is becoming increasingly popular as it can be varied in many ways and flavored to taste. It can be used to make various desserts. The small black seeds can be mixed into smoothies, smoothie bowls, soups, porridges, granola bars, breads, and pastries.

    Daily maximum intake: 15 g.
