Maca, known as the superfood of the Andes, is popular among the indigenous people of the Peruvian Andes. Maca, grown in spring, is a root vegetable cultivated at 3,500 meters above sea level. The root of maca has traditionally been integrated into the diet of indigenous peoples as a modern superfood. Our maca powder comes from a standard harvest (not selective), consisting of about 70% yellow maca root and 30% a mix of red, black, and purple maca roots. Organic maca powder can be used in various ways, including - but not limited to - smoothies, salads, juices, desserts, and raw foods.
Also known as Peruvian ginseng, Maca is known for its energizing, strengthening, endurance-enhancing, and mood-improving effects. It thrives in harsh weather conditions (cold, strong winds, intense sunlight), which are particularly disadvantageous for most plants.
