Product Description
Cynarin is one of the main biologically active compounds in artichokes. The product contains a 5% cynarin standardized extract of artichoke (which means 40 mg of cynarin content in 2 capsules!). The extract is also enriched with the L-ornithine amino acid and contains a B-vitamin complex [including B1 vitamin (thiamine), B2 vitamin (riboflavin), B3 vitamin (niacin), B5 vitamin (pantothenic acid), and B6 vitamin (pyridoxine)], which contribute to normal energy-producing metabolic processes.

Cynarin is a bioactive compound found in high quantities in the leaves of artichoke, most of which is formed only during the processing of the drug (this serves as an example of how beneficial the breakdown and transformation of various compounds can be physiologically).
The significance of studying the leaf part of plants lies in the fact that it is chemically examined more thoroughly than the inflorescence. While scientific publications continuously report on the components of leaves, we unfortunately know less about the composition of inflorescences. An exception to this is the most distinctive compounds of the artichoke, the caffeic acid derivatives, which are known to be present in the entire aerial part of the plant. Among them is, for example, cynarin.
DID YOU KNOW THAT THE NERVOUS SYSTEM AND DIGESTION...?
Balanced, good well-being and proper functioning of the nervous system have a positive impact on involuntary physiological functions, such as digestion processes or bowel movements.
For the above reasons, the product has been enriched with B vitamins that help maintain the health of the nervous system. The components of the B-vitamin complex; B1 vitamin (thiamine), B2 vitamin (riboflavin), B3 vitamin (niacin), B5 vitamin (pantothenic acid), and B6 vitamin contribute to the healthy functioning of the nervous system and participate in the normal energy-producing metabolic processes. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity.

DIGESTION AND DETOX WITH THE POWER OF MEDITERRANEAN HERBS
The artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) is a perennial thistle, originating from the southern European regions, the Mediterranean basin (North Africa and the Canary Islands). It grows up to 1.5-2 m tall, with arching, deeply lobed, silvery, opalescent green leaves that are 50-80 cm long. The flowers develop in a large head into edible buds 8-15 cm in diameter, with numerous triangular scales; the individual flowers are purple. The edible part of the buds is primarily the fleshy lower part of the involucral bracts and the base, which is known as the "heart"; the inedible parts of the undeveloped flowers inside the buds are the "choke." Cultivation in Europe can be traced back to ancient Greeks and Romans. It is also grown in North Africa and other subtropical climate regions. The commercially available product is whole or cut, dried leaves, mainly cultivated in Southern Europe or North Africa.
ARTICHOKE HISTORY
Artichokes were used as food and medicine by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. The leaves of the artichoke were used as a diuretic and for treating liver and gallbladder conditions in traditional European medicine dating back to Roman times. Interestingly, the young leaves are less bitter, while the older leaves are strongly bitter. The bitterness of the leaf extract is due to compounds known as sesquiterpene lactones, particularly cynaropicrin.
The artichoke (Cynara scolymus L., Asteraceae) is a widely cultivated plant in Mediterranean countries, especially in Italy, where the bud is consumed as a vegetable. Artichokes were first cultivated in Naples around the mid-15th century, and were introduced to France by Catherine de' Medici. The Dutch brought the plant to England, where it was grown in Henry VIII's garden at Newhall in 1530. In the USA, French immigrants introduced artichokes to Louisiana in the 19th century, while Spanish immigrants brought them to California.
