    Product Description

Corn is one of our oldest grains. It originates from Central America, where the indigenous people utilized it in many ways, including popping it.

Popcorn and popped corn quickly spread around the world. Its simplicity and affordability favored this. The first popcorn-making machine was created in the 19th century and its popularity has been unbroken ever since.

Popcorn is made by heating up the kernels, causing the water inside to boil and create pressure, which eventually bursts out of the kernel in a mini explosion.

    Importance, impacts:

A corn kernel retains its nutritional value after popping. It is considered a whole grain, containing very little protein and fat, mostly pure carbohydrates (in the form of starch). Its glycemic index is lower than other average snacks and its calorie content is relatively low (though this greatly depends on the way it is prepared).

    Usage:

Pop the corn kernels with a popcorn maker or in a covered container over a fire. The finished popcorn can be seasoned, tossed in cold pressed oil, or in melted seasoned vegetable margarine.

    Ingredients: corn*
