How does the Bi-flux filter cartridge clean tap water?
- The key element of the LAICA water filter jug is the replaceable Bi-flux filter cartridge.
- The filter cartridge containing activated carbon and ion exchange resin filters the tap water in 5 stages, resulting in healthier and tastier water for consumers.
- Activated charcoal binds chlorine and its derivatives, pesticides, organic pollutants, improves water taste, removes unpleasant odor and color elements. Ion exchange resin reduces water hardness, which causes limescale, and significantly decreases the content of heavy metals in water.

Why is it necessary to replace the filter cartridge?
After filtering 150 liters, the filtration efficiency decreases and becomes less effective. After 30 days, in order to prevent possible bacterial growth, the filter element should be replaced as inspected and approved by NNK, as bacteria may start to spread afterwards.

No, sodium and potassium are essential minerals for the proper functioning of the body's metabolism, and LAICA water filter jugs do not significantly alter the naturally present and legally defined levels in drinking water.
Is it correct to reduce / eliminate water hardness?
The hardness of drinking water is very important for the absorption of calcium and magnesium (water is a better carrier than other foods). Important clinical studies accredited by the World Health Organization and the Istituto Superiore di Sanita confirm that water containing calcium and magnesium salts (hardness) has a protective function in preventing cardiovascular diseases.
Does hardness lead to kidney stones?
No, this is a misconception. In fact, there is no connection between the appearance of calcium, magnesium and kidney stones.

Does the water in the source help reduce chlorine and heavy metals?
No, the water in the source does not serve this purpose. In fact, heavy metals do not evaporate while chlorine does, but their more dangerous byproducts, such as trihalomethanes, do not, as they remain at the boiling point of water.
Why is it important to clean the water filter pitcher regularly?
The usual cleaning practices/principles applicable to kitchen utensils (such as plates, glasses, dishes, etc.) should also be applied to the water filter jug, excluding the water filter cartridge and the digital display.
Do you need to clean the water filter?
No, the water filter simply needs to be rinsed under running water (without using detergents), at the same time as the carafe is being washed.
If I go on vacation for a week or longer and the filter cartridge has not reached the end of its life, how should it be stored in this case?
We recommend washing the water filter jug with water and liquid detergent, rinsing the water filter cartridge under running water, thoroughly drying it, placing it back into the jug, and storing the jug in the refrigerator. Before using it again, rinse the water filter cartridge under running water.
Why does water slow down until it suddenly stops flowing?
Sometimes air bubbles can form inside the filter cartridge and act as a "pressure plug" preventing water flow. To help the filter function properly, simply remove it from the throat, immerse it in water (to cover it completely) to release the bubbles, and then place it back into the throat.
Do I need to store the pitcher in the refrigerator as per the instructions?
Like all food, water also preserves its characteristics (sensory, pH, taste and smell) in a safer way when stored at the usual refrigerator temperature. However, all microbiological analyzes carried out at 22°C and 37°C according to the method indicated by the Istituto Superiore di Sanita confirm that there is no bacterial growth.
Why does filtered water sometimes turn grayish / black?
A small amount of fine dust may be released from the granular carbon in the filter, which is NOT harmful to health and sticks to the plastic wall, making it darker. This does not in any way compromise the functionality and efficiency of the filter cartridge.
How long does the filter cartridge last and how many liters can it actually filter?
The useful life of the filter is 1 month / 150 liters, as indicated on its packaging. At the end of its useful life, it does not release the trapped substances, but it becomes less effective at reducing and absorbing unwanted substances.
Do filters also reduce the presence of limescale?
LAICA offers filters for drinking water that maintain the balance of salts and other minerals, suitable for use with tea, coffee, and kettles, which reduce hardness and prevent limescale formation in such appliances.
