    Pea protein is an excellent source of protein, rich in essential amino acids, and has an excellent amino acid composition (AAS = 0.96). This means that it contains 96% of the recommended daily intake of essential amino acids. (Protein and Amino acid requirements in human nutrition, Report of the Joint FAO/WHO/UNU Expert Consultation.     Another highlight of pea protein is that it contains a semi-essential amino acid, arginine, in large quantities.
