Adam's Corn Mustache Elixir is used for urinary tract disorders, kidney stones, bladder sand, and against diabetes. It is also added to herbal teas.
It has been proven to reduce blood sugar levels and has a disinfectant effect in cases of cystitis. Due to its phosphorus content, it can be beneficial in rickets and back pain. To combat coughing and mucus, corn silk is usually boiled together with corn kernels, and its decoction is strongly flavored with sugar or honey, then given to the patient while still hot.
Corn silk has a slightly stimulating effect, but its extract can also treat liver failure and high blood pressure. A compress made from corn silk and cob leaves helps with the bursting of purulent wounds. It is a common component of teas against diabetes, dietary issues, and diuretics.
Preparation:
Add 1 tablespoon of fresh or dried corn silk to 2 dl of boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. Then, strain and consume, sipping 1 cup 3 times a day.
Strong diuretic: A stronger infusion can also be prepared for diuretic purposes, in this case add double the amount of corn silk to 2 dl of water. (Stronger infusions are not recommended for heart patients!)
Patients prone to kidney stone formation can consume it regularly. It is often mixed with other similar plants whose effects it enhances. Adults can use it in medicinal doses after consulting with their doctor.
When used as directed, no side effects or poisoning is known.
