Product Description
Adam's Icelandic lichen decoction is cough suppressant, anti-inflammatory, and appetite enhancer. Recommended for upper respiratory infections, sore throat, and dry cough.
Recommended for chronic bronchitis, with phlegmy cough. It has antibacterial and appetite-stimulating effects.
The broth of lichen is almost odorless, gelatinous and bitter, weakly astringent. It has a strengthening and beneficial effect on diarrhea after severe illnesses. Its bitter substance stimulates bowel movements, helps with stool evacuation, and increases red blood cell count. Its effect on convalescent patients and diabetics is explained by its high starch content.
In folk medicine, it is also recommended as a galactagogue and its decoction is also used for goiter.
Preparation: Boil 1-2 teaspoons of dried oats in 2.5 dl of cold water, bring to a simmer, then strain. Can be consumed with 2-3 cups daily, for children 1-2 cups (proportionate to body weight).
For respiratory infections, honey can be added as a flavoring. In case of loss of appetite, it should be consumed without sweeteners half an hour before meals.
