Propolis, as a natural substance, can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals, mainly due to the impurities it contains and some molecules that are derivatives of caffeic acid. Specchiasol® has developed a method aimed at reducing the allergenic effects of these molecules. During the extraction of propolis extracts protected by the E.P.I.D.® patent, a probiotic species, Lactobacillus Helveticus, is used to separate the allergenic molecules found in caffeic acid.
