What is Stevia?
Stevia is a South American herb that is naturally sweet. Extracts of the plant (powder, syrup, tablets) and dried tea leaves are widely used for sweetening all over the world (the pure extracts can be up to 300 times sweeter than sugar cane). In Asian countries, Stevia has been accepted and known for decades: it is used to sweeten soft drinks, sugar-free chewing gums, yoghurts, pickles, vegetables, dried fruits, and pastries.
