Product Description
The seeds of the evergreen Pimenta trees provide the spice. The seeds are harvested while still green, and after drying they turn brown and develop a wrinkled surface. Its aroma is similar to cloves with a hint of cinnamon, while its taste is reminiscent of pepper and similarly spicy. Christopher Columbus believed until his death that he had found pepper on the Caribbean islands. He even named it after this belief, as 'Pimienta' means pepper in Spanish. It can be used to marinate fish and meat dishes, prepare stews, sauces, and flavor pâtés.
