HOW ARE CHLOROPHYLLINES COPPER COMPLEXES PRODUCED AND WHAT MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY IS USED?
Alkaline salts of copper-chlorophyllins are produced by adding copper to a product obtained by saponification of solvent extracted edible plant parts such as grass, alfalfa, and nettle; during saponification, the methyl and phytol ester groups disappear, and the cyclopentenyl ring might partially break. After adding copper to the purified chlorophyllins, potassium and/or sodium salts are formed by neutralizing the acidic groups.
