The Expect pregnancy test safely detects early pregnancy. The test is coated with a protein that detects the presence of the pregnancy hormone hCG in the urine. In addition to the control pink line, a second line appears (its color ranging from light pink to dark purple depending on the hormone concentration) if hCG hormone is present, meaning the hormone has reacted with the test's special antibody coating. After giving birth or due to taking hCG-containing medications (e.g. Profasi), such tests may show false positive results. Certain health conditions (e.g. ovarian cyst) can also give false results, similar to an ectopic pregnancy. The test sensitivity is 25 mlU/ml.
