Ingredients: Vegetables in variable proportions (cassava, malanga, purple sweet potato, yellow sweet potato, cooking banana) 70%, non-hydrogenated palm oil, sea salt (1.5%).

The SAMAI Rainforest chips are made from premium quality ingredients, grown by local farmers on the Pacific coast of South America in Ecuador.

Vegetables are naturally ripened, then hand-picked and carefully selected for the finest pieces. Next, they are transported to the processing plant, located right next to the fields, to ensure the freshest possible ingredients. Upon arrival at the plant, expert hands sort, peel, and slice them. Afterwards, they are fried to perfection in non-hydrogenated, pure vegetable oil, preserving the natural flavor and nutrient-rich nature of the ingredients.

Only sea salt is used for seasoning. It does not contain added sugar, artificial flavor enhancers, aromas, coloring, or monosodium glutamate (MSG). Thus, ensuring completely natural flavors.

The chips are unpacked under strictly controlled conditions to maintain the freshness and excellent quality of the product.

Cassava (Manihot Esculenta), also known as manioc or yucca, is a nutrient-rich starchy root native to South America. It is consumed in many tropical and subtropical regions worldwide.

Cassava root contains significant amounts of calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin C. Cassava starch pellets are also known as tapioca.

Plantain is a type of banana that is eaten boiled, steamed, and fried. Due to its high nutritional content, it is considered a staple food in many coastal areas of South America, Africa, and Asia.

Only non-hydrogenated palm oil (palmolein) is used for frying vegetables. This less saturated (more liquid) oil is extracted from the oil palm fruit through cooking and pressing. No chemical substances are used during the process. Unlike palm kernel oil and coconut oil, palmolein contains fewer saturated components.

Like all vegetable oils, palm olein is cholesterol-free and also trans fat-free as it does not require hydrogenation. It is rich in tocopherols and tocotrienols (Vitamin E). Red palm oil is the best natural source of beta-carotene (A-provitamin).

Palmolein was selected for the production of SAMAI products based on the following key factors:

    1. The fatty acids found in palm oil are perfectly balanced, ensuring that the oil remains stable even at high temperatures.
    2. Oil palms grow in the same region, the Ecuadorian tropics, as the other ingredients. This way, fresh oil is used, contributing to the development of the local economy.
    3. Last but not least, the palm oil used comes from plantations outside protected rainforests. The palms cover their surroundings with a green canopy, enabling the development of numerous plants and animals. With their carbon dioxide absorption, they are more effective in cleaning the air than soybean plantations.
