In jam making, citric acid helps the gelling process and enhances the natural flavor of fruits. Primarily used in food productsas an antioxidant (although it does not have antioxidant effects on its own, it enhances the effects of other antioxidants), is used as an acidity regulator and flavoring agent under the name E330. In fruit products, it delays the browning of fruits caused by oxygen. There is no specific daily intake limit.

The majority of factory kitchen and bathroom cleaners, although in small percentages, contain citric acid. The citrus scent can be associated with a pleasant mood and a sense of cleanliness, hence it is also used in the production of air fresheners.
Since citric acid is an excellent descaler and non-toxic, unlike vinegar, it is used as a base ingredient in our household cleaners and fabric softeners. Furthermore, as it softens water, it is a useful additive in the production of soaps and detergents.
